035-NURSERY

An intervention atop an existing bulkhead over a stairwell, incorporating storage and chill out seat.

The frame was constructed using standard softwood sections & a discarded wardrobe carcass.

The frame was self supporting, and slipped in and out to allow room for upholstery. Total frame cost ~40€

All painting took place before commencement of upholstery.

Fabric was the most expensive component. The fabric requirement was templated to ensure no wastage. Excess allowing for a seamless visible profile was used for loose cushion & bolster.

100mm foam was applied to the frame, with a 25mm wrap layer to provide soft edges.

A template was made from cheap lining fabric to ensure fit, and accomodation of curves within the stretch of the fabric.

The fabric was applied and reading lights fitted.

A white trim was added to hide upholstered edge, tolerance gaps, and provide a shadow gap.
